About Lakewood
Lakewood is located just south of Tacoma and is in close proximity to Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The city’s name comes from the area’s several lakes, providing great summertime recreation and hundreds of waterfront homes, many of which were built in the 1950’s and 60’s, but there’s plenty of newer construction as well. Lakewood also offers several lovely parks, including American Lake and Ft. Steilacoom Park, with miles of trails, large dog parks, and historic landmarks to explore. Shopping and dining options are also abundant thanks to the Lakewood Towne Center, where you can also find a movie theater.
