About Downtown Tacoma
Downtown Tacoma is home to many historic buildings, as the “City of Destiny” thrived during the timber-rich era of the late 1800’s. A typical home in the Downtown area is a character-filled condo placed above the city’s restaurants, law firms, banks, and shops. Tacoma has a number of cultural attractions, including the Pantages Theater, Museum of Glass, Union Station, and the Washington State History Museum. In the past few decades, the University of Washington has invested heavily in the Downtown corridor, as they have grown their satellite campus. UW has reclaimed and renovated many buildings in the area, and its student body adds greatly to the energy around the city. Downtown also offers great transportation, as the city operates an ever-expanding light rail network that can connect you to park and rides and the Sounder commuter train.
