Jamie grew up in the east side of San Jose, California, before venturing out to the midwest for college. From there she moved to DC and NYC before landing in WA with her wife in 2015. Prior to working in real estate, Jamie spent 15 years in the criminal justice system as a police officer, detective, and criminal justice professor. Her real passion, however, has always been in real estate — home hunting, remodeling, decorating, and even moving — she loves it all!
Jamie has always been fueled by the mission to be “the calm in the storm,” and transitioning into real estate from law enforcement has allowed her to continue that mission. She is committed to making sure that every buyer or seller has the smoothest, most stress-free, real estate experience as possible. Her motto is “A Passion for Better” and is relentless in her commitment to provide excellence in service.
My Name Is: Jamie McDonnell
I Am: A mom, wife, goat-whisperer, and a licensed investigative psychologist! Most people have no idea what that one means, but think criminal profiler.
Born In: San Jose California
Languages Spoken: English, but I am in the process of learning Samoan to help my son stay connected to his Samoan ancestry.
Proudest Moment: I think so far it has been the day my son was born. It was the culmination of 5 years of trying to make a family. When he was finally in my arms… I don’t think anything I have accomplished in my life can compare to that.
Biggest Challenge: Trying to stay present and in the moment in my personal life. I often lose the trees through the forest, as my dad has said.
I Love Real Estate Because: It is fulfilling in a way that my previous career never was, in that, not only do I get to be a part of a really important step in someone’s life, I get to be there from the beginning to the end.
My Superhero Power: Finding inexpensive flights for travel. I once was able to get round trip tickets to London for less than $200 round trip. It’s a pretty rad superpower and I’m happy to share it with anyone who may need it!
My Perfect Day: The day the 4-year remodel on my home is finally complete! I am beginning to think I live in the Winchester Mystery House with the nonstop remodeling/construction!
First Job: Cashier at Old Navy at the age of 16. I LOVED that job! It was a fun fast paced environment and every day was something different.
Favorite Tacoma Neighborhood: I’m a huge fan of North Tacoma. It reminds me a lot of my favorite parts about NYC! From the restaurants and bars to little shops, it just has a great vibe!
Biggest Hero/Inspiration: My Great Grandma Armenooie. She was 14 years old when she left an orphanage in Armenia in 1896 and came to America by herself. We are now 4 generations strong because of her bravery.
Hobbies Outside of Real Estate? Kayaking, decorating/remodeling, travelling, and conducting investigations as a freelance investigator.
Favorite Sports Team: CUBBIES!!!
Favorite Season: It is one of the things I really miss about the East Coast!
